Here’s how your bar can prepare for Star Wars Day

Star Wars fans across the country are donning their t-shirts, Yoda ears, and Leia braids in honor of the insanely popular sci-fi franchise. (Need help following along? May the 4th is a play on words with the phrase “May the Force be with you.”)

The original film opened in 1977, and by 1983 it had become a hit trilogy. Fast forward 42 years and the Star Wars universe has ballooned to 11 films (including one releasing this December), multiple TV show offshoots, comics, video games, and a soon-to-open pair of Disney theme parks.

We’ve got some of our own Star Wars fans at Jevo HQ, so we couldn’t pass up the chance to share some on-theme shot recipes.

Plot spoilers will be kept to a minimum to allow new fans to get on board.

Darth Vader Shot

The foe of the original trilogy, Darth Vader is full of surprises.

Black food coloring is usually sold in 1-ounce bottles in preparation for Halloween, so depending on how seriously your bar takes that holiday you may already have some lying around. You may have some luck at your nearby craft or baking supply store. We recommend using liquid food coloring, so avoid gel.

What you’ll need
  • 10 oz Pinnacle® Whipped® Vodka
  • Peachy Keen flavor pod
  • Black food coloring
How to make them

Pour the vodka into Jevo’s reservoir, pop in the flavor pod, insert a loaded prep tray, and press Go. When Jevo is done preparing shots, add a drop of food coloring to each shot, cover the tray, and place it in the fridge until the shots are set.

C3PO Shot

Who can forget Luke Skywalker’s trusted sidekick? This golden droid is fluent in over 6 million forms of communication and has appeared in all but one of the franchise’s 11 films.

What you’ll need
  • 10 oz Cruzan® Spiced Rum
  • Mango Rush flavor pod
How to make them

Pour the rum into Jevo’s reservoir, pop in the flavor pod, insert a loaded prep tray, and press Go. When Jevo is done preparing shots, cover the tray and place it in the fridge until the shots are set.

Princess Leia Shot

A little sweet and super tough, Princess Leia of Alderaan is a key asset to the Rebel Alliance.

What you’ll need
  • 10 oz Cruzan® Banana Rum
  • Birthday Cake flavor pod
How to make them

Pour the rum into Jevo’s reservoir, pop in the flavor pod, insert a loaded prep tray, and press Go. When Jevo is done preparing shots, cover the tray and place it in the fridge until the shots are set.

Chewbacca Shot

Chewbacca the wookiee was a loyal friend to Han Solo and co-pilot on the Millennium Falcon.

Sadly, Chewbacca actor Peter Mayhew passed away this week at the age of 74. Mayhew played Chewbacca in all of the Star Wars movies until The Force Awakens (2015) as well as in various other TV shows such as Donny and Marie, The Muppet Show, and Glee.

What you’ll need
  • 10 oz Jägermeister®
  • 10 oz Red Bull® Energy Drink
  • Plain Jane flavor pod
How to make them

Pour the Jägermeister and Red Bull into Jevo’s reservoir, pop in the flavor pod, insert a loaded prep tray, select the Craft setting, and press Go. When Jevo is done preparing shots, cover the tray and place it in the fridge until the shots are set.

Yoda Shot

At nearly a millennium old, the mysterious and wise Yoda is one of the most powerful Jedi masters in Star Wars canon. The voice role was originally offered to Jim Henson of The Muppet Show fame, but he declined and suggested Muppet Show cast mate Frank Oz instead.

Little-known fact: Yoda’s strange way of speaking is mostly consistent with what’s known as anastrophe.

What you’ll need
  • 10 oz Jim Beam® Kentucky Fire®
  • AppleTINI flavor pod
How to make them

Pour the bourbon into Jevo’s reservoir, pop in the flavor pod, insert a loaded prep tray, and press Go. When Jevo is done preparing shots, cover the tray and place it in the fridge until the shots are set.
